For the month of May, our staff has once again chosen Mally Fontan, Supervisor in our Kidz2Success Program at our West Flagler site, as MVP. A title she has earned multiple times due to her exceptional leadership, passion, and unwavering dedication. Mally’s long-standing commitment to Hope for Miami continues to inspire both her colleagues and the families she serves. We interviewed Mally, and here’s what she had to say:

Mally, what new challenges have you faced this year within our Kidz2Success program, and how have you addressed them?

One of the challenges I faced personally was that my mom was going through chemo treatment, and HFM was there for me, always asking about my mom and praying, and a great team to cover for me. Now she is cancer-free. At the site, all my kids are Spanish speakers, so I am constantly speaking both languages for them to understand and hear in English, for them to learn the language.

Based on your experience, what do you think is key to connecting with people new to the country?

Making the kids and families feel safe. I listen, and as a Site Supervisor, we have many hats in our role. They have come somewhere new and strange so I always encourage them and tell them that they can do it. When families are looking for work, I ask around, and my bus driver has been a great help.

Can you share the strategies or skills you relied on to manage multiple school sites before becoming a Site Supervisor at the West Flagler Park site location?

Get to know your site and the crew you work with. Even if the area is different. We are a team, and working together and with our strengths, we will make it far.

Looking ahead, what specific goals do you have for the continued growth and impact of the Kidz2Success program at your site, and how do you envision the program evolving to meet the needs of the community?

Sit and get to know the community (parents) and have outreach events. Let everyone know Hope for Miami is here to stay and make a difference not only in the children but in the community.

We are truly thankful for Mally’s constant dedication and heartfelt support for Hope for Miami. Her impact is immeasurable, and we can't wait to see the incredible things she will continue to accomplish in the future.

I'm the parent of a kid who has been with HFM for years, and we started at a site where Mally was the Supervisor. Mally is a great asset for HFM. She's so dedicated and committed, she makes everyone feel our kids are in good hands, and they truly are. This recognition to her hard work is so well deserved!
