We would like to congratulate Alan Benoit, Program Manager of our program Coalición Esperanza, for receiving the SWAT award last month! This award was given to all advisors for the 2024-2025 school year. Alan first got involved with SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) after joining the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade in 2023. Seeing a need to address tobacco and vaping use in the Flagami / Little Havana community, he believed it was an easy decision to incorporate SWAT within our Youth Council. Since participating in the SWAT Program, the youth council has conducted retail compliance scans, checking that local stores and gas stations are compliant with Florida laws concerning tobacco sales to minors. The Youth Council has also participated in various community service events such as beach cleanups, food drives, and more. Congratulations, Alan, on your hard work and for helping our youth make an impact in our community!
