Hope for Miami’s campers at the Pinelands site brought home 1st place in the Kindergarten - 1st grade category at this year’s Battle of the Books! Competing against nine other camps across the county, our youngest readers shone after reading Maybe Something Beautiful. Their hard work earned them a special field trip to Wynwood Walls!
2nd - 3rd graders also had a strong showing, earning 2nd place with More-igami, while 4th - 5th graders explored Timid through comic book creation and deep discussions. All campers participated in Battle Day murals and kindness projects, making this summer's reading adventure both creative and meaningful.
Hope for Miami first joined the competition back in 2020, and we’re proud to continue inspiring a love for books year after year. A huge thanks to Site Supervisor Nicole Andino, her team, and our partners at The Children’s Trust, Project RISE, and the Miami-Dade Grade Level Reading Campaign. Reading gives you superpowers, and our campers proved it!
