Hope for Miami is proud to recognize the impactful contributions of our interns this season. Through our partnerships with schools, universities, and other youth organizations, we’ve been fortunate enough to engage young people through internships and field placement opportunities that offer college credit while also providing valuable opportunities to grow their skill sets and work on projects that enhance their resumes. This summer is no exception, as we have partnered with several local colleges and universities, the Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP), organized by The Children’s Trust, and the Fit2Lead program of the Miami-Dade Parks Department. Their fresh perspectives, dedication, and passion have had an incredible influence on our programs and the community we serve.

This summer, we were honored to work with these outstanding interns: Kerrigan Wesley, a Global Health Studies student at the University of Miami, and Katherine Burgoyne, a Public Health Student at the University of Florida. They have been working on youth mental health initiatives with our Project Bridge program. Sabrina Muir, a Health Education and Behavior student at the University of Florida, worked alongside Coalición Esperanza to develop focus group surveys, present to the youth about substance use prevention, and participate in community outreach. Alessia Rossi, a Mass Communications/Journalism major at Miami-Dade College, supported our PR and Marketing team in translating print material, writing captions and newsletter articles, and capturing footage for our digital media pages. Students enrolled in the SYIP and the Fit2Lead Program played an active role at our Kidz2Success summer camp sites, helping lead activities, supporting our instructors, and building positive connections with the children.

These young people bring enthusiasm and creativity to our organization, and we are so glad to become a part of their future employment records.
