Co-workers nominated Helen De Cossio once again as our Most Valuable Player this month. Helen is renowned for going the extra mile for her work friends and is usually the person who organizes the celebrations for life’s milestones, like weddings and new babies. Here’s more about her philosophy at work (which goes far beyond her position as the Program Manager for Project U-Turn).
“If you focus on generosity, the workplace becomes a hub for strengthening employee bonds. When someone shows value to our coworkers, it is perhaps the most crucial aspect of building relationships in the workplace. Spending time and effort getting to know colleagues demonstrates genuine regard. Because we spend most of our days with our work family, showing up with generosity and gratitude creates a positive and supportive work environment. Showing generosity towards our coworkers, whether it be through offering help, sharing knowledge, or taking an interest in their lives outside of work, builds trust and strengthens relationships. In return, these actions encourage an atmosphere of collaboration, open communication, and a sense of camaraderie (which hopefully develops workplace satisfaction and happiness). The bottom line is when people feel appreciated and valued, in turn, we see motivation soar. Generosity and gratitude are the motor that keeps our staff encouraged!”
We appreciate you, Helen!
