The Family Connections social workers and interns do their best to provide services to the families assigned to us by the Miami-Dade school system. Still, some families have bigger problems than a simple referral to free services will take care of. Case Manager Margarita Díaz had a student who needed an expensive dental procedure as the girl was being bullied in school due to her dental appearance. On top of that, the student’s family was unable to afford the dental service which was quoted to be $4,000.
Hope for Miami connected the family to a dental resource that provided the needed service for a quarter of the cost, which was within the family’s range. This was a big win for our team. Thank you, Family Connections team, for all the work you do!
