Celebrating International Women’s Day

March 6th has been designated International Women’s Day. For the first time in our history – the Hope for Miami Board of Directors is all-female. We would like to introduce these women to you!



Dr. Leigh Byers has a Doctorate in Business Administration from Walden University and is a doctoral-level professor and research chair at Liberty University School of Business. She is also a leadership consultant and a Certified Positive Intelligence Coach with 7th Level Leadership Solutions, LLC.





 



Mayte Padron is an Emmy-award-winning journalist and the director of the Community Relations Department of WPLG Local 10 TV, overseeing the station’s outreach initiatives to benefit and strengthen the South Florida community. Born and raised in Miami, Mayte graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism and political science.





 


Christine Selby obtained a Master's Degree in International Intercultural Education from Florida International University and added a PK-12 Principal’s License from the University of Minnesota in 2020. She is currently employed as the Senior Partnerships Consultant for Advanced Learning Partnerships - working with public school districts across the Southeastern U.S. She has also been a teacher and school administrator. Previously, she was the Community

Engagement Liaison at The Children’s Trust.



 



Yvonne Sawyer co-founded Hope for Miami 25 years ago.

Prior to that, she founded Hope for New York; a non-profit affiliated with Redeemer Presbyterian Church in NYC. She is a graduate of Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication & International Affairs.
