Team Member Spotlight! Meet Sarah Alston

Meet Hope for Miami's September MVP!

1. Hi, tell us who you are, where you are from and how you serve with the team at Hope for Miami?

My name is Sarah Alston and I am from West Virginia. I moved to South Florida to attend graduate school and I have been living here since I graduated a few years ago. I serve with the Out of School team as a Program Manager for multiple sites, supporting with needs that they have, and assisting staff to continue to grow and improve the programming for students and families.

2. Thanks, so, how do you think your skills/gifts, knowledge and interests equip you to do your tasks?

I believe that my skills and enjoyment of working with various populations and focus on finding solutions allows me to make positive connections and build relationships with the site staff. Getting to know individuals on deeper levels provides me with knowledge to better understand their needs and goals of personal development.

Aiming to be consistent and continuously improve and motivate staff to grow,

equips me to complete tasks.

3. What’s one aspect of Hope for Miami’s work that most encourages and motivates you?

What motivates me is knowing that as the programs grow more youth will be

reached to learn and gain an abundance of experiences in a safe environment

that will ultimately help them improve their lives.

4. Finally, tell us something interesting about yourself to help us get to know you better.

I enjoy keeping interactions upbeat and positive focused, I try to find humor in

different situations.
